Dependants, Spouses, and Partners of Employment Permit Holders
Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) Holders and Researchers
If you are a Critical Skills Employment Permit holder or a researcher on a hosting agreement, you are eligible to bring your spouse or de facto partner and dependent children to live with you in Ireland immediately. However, they will receive different immigration permissions, and their right to work in Ireland depends on their status.
Spouse
Your spouse will be granted Stamp 1G immigration permission.
They will not require an employment permit to work in Ireland under Stamp 1G.
If your spouse is a citizen of a non-EEA country, an entry visa may be required beforehand if they come from a visa-required country.
De facto Partner
Your de facto partner will be granted Stamp 1G immigration permission.
They will not require an employment permit to work in Ireland under Stamp 1G.
If your de facto partner is a citizen of a non-EEA country, an entry visa may be required beforehand to enter Ireland.
Dependents
Dependents will be granted Stamp 3 immigration permission based on their relationship with the permit holder.
They must apply for a Dependent Employment Permit with a job offer to work in Ireland.
If your dependents are non-EEA citizens, an entry visa may be required beforehand for them to enter Ireland.
General Employment Permit (GEP) and Other Eligible Permits
For holders of a General Employment Permit, your spouse, de facto partner, and dependent children can apply to join you after one year of employment, provided your income is sufficient to support your family.
To sponsor your spouse or partner, you must have earned a minimum annual salary of €30,000 in the past two years before filing the application.
If you have dependent children, your income will be assessed separately based on weekly working family payment limits according to your family size.
Family members must apply for the relevant employment permit to work in Ireland. Unlike the Critical Skills Employment Permit, they need to apply under the appropriate employment permit category.
