Getting a study visa solely depends on your choice of university and your dedication towards it. Here are a few points to remember while applying for an Australian Study visa given below:

Students after completing this list of documents need to sit for an interview with the visa officers.

What is a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement?

The genuine temporary entrant (GTE) requirement was introduced in November 2011, which says that the applicant should be able to denote a strong reason to stay in Australia for education purposes or temporarily or to stay as dependent for a student (i.e. child or spouse). There are a few factors on which the Department of home affairs decides the GTE.

  • Your immigration history
  • Your home country’s circumstances
  • Potential circumstances in Australia
  • Value of your course chosen to study in Australia

There is a provision for the interview at your nearest Australian embassy or consulate. The officer asks a few questions based on the above-mentioned points which will determine your pass to GTE. Other than this some applicants will be required to fill out only the visa application form.

Student Visa requirements for Australia

There are document proofs that individuals need to prove when completing the online visa application form.

  1. Financial requirements

Students need to prove they have enough funds to sustain themselves in the country by managing their tuition fees, living costs, travel, and other personal and academic purposes. If you have a spouse or children then in that case you need to prove their financial sources that covers their tuition fees, or school fees.

  1. Health requirements

Students who tend to train in courses such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, etc. are required to prove their good health status. You need to go through a radiological checkup or medical test before you apply for the visa application. It is evident that you must keep your health certificate ready.

  1. Proof of English Proficiency

If you have not completed 5 years of study in English or do not belong to an English speaking country then you need to prove your English language proficiency. Exams like IELTS, TOEFL. PTE. DET, etc. are given in this case of requirement. The score depends on the degrees you are going to pursue such as full-time, foundation course, vocational courses, or enrolling in a preliminary English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS).

  1. Character requirements

You must be of good character to enter Australia as this is one criterion that you are judged upon. You make sure that you do not have any criminal record as this is checked in a criminal record check process. Also, you may need to get a criminal clearance certificate (or police clearance certificate) or a police statement, and you may need to complete a Character Statutory Declaration Form.
