An average reader looks at your bio for about 7 seconds, so you must present an eye-catcher that makes your individuality and experience come across smoothly.
As all simple things, it’s a three step process :
- Foundation
- Content
- Aesthetics
Foundation
We must understand how our resume should be structured and prepared, before you sow the seeds one must prepare the soil, rushing into making a resume on spontaneous thought may result in a beautiful mess, it’s usually recommended to prepare a blue-print founded on precise forethought of what you want to communicate through the resume.
This includes:
a) Researching
b) Understanding your audience
c) Developing a Clarity of Objectives
After all this is prepared, organize all your information as it becomes easier to give your resume a flow which communicates your uniqueness and validity. Always remember to highlight your credentials, co-curricular achievements & extra-curricular activities like winning a state championship game.
Content
No two flowers are the same, building an alive statement requires unique creativeness and dexterity, while arranging your content customise according to each institution you’re applying into, remember to use action words while describing your experience (like managed, resolved, developed etc), using good grammar while fulfilling the role of a simple presenter try not to complicate things with unnecessary words and attachments. When you talk about your work experience, focus on what assets you’ve provided the company instead of what the job made you do.
Aesthetics
Interest development is the key source of all transactional arrangements, you must know what catches the eye of the reader while writing your resume, not only what you’re presenting matters but also how you’ve made the whole thing shine across.
Choose a good template, pick your favourite colour scheme, set an overall theme and keep it crisp, precise and simple. Avoid writing in capital letters, apart from headings, as they are difficult to read. Not to mention they can give the impression that YOU ARE SHOUTING! Include at least one blank line between each section and the line spacing within sections should be 1.0 or 1.15 pts. The page margins all around the page should also be between 0.5-1 inches.
