For academic studies, you need a “F” visa. Students who are attending academic programs or English Language programs an F1 visa is issued to them. This type of visa is common for international students in the U.S. which comes with a requirement of maintaining a minimum score for full-time student status. This visa is beneficial for students for various purposes as it allows students to work part-time (20 hours per week) and also provides on-campus employment. Other than this students on F1 visa can work on optional practical training (OPT) for up to one year. Students are expected to complete their studies by the expiration date on the I-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status).
