Renewal reminder planner
ISD does not send renewal reminders: knowing your dates is on you. Since November 2024 every IRP renewal is online and nationwide, and the window opens exactly 12 weeks before your card expires. Add each permission in your household, an employment permit too if you hold one, and take the key dates away as one calendar file, Google Calendar links or an email. Rules verified 25 August 2026.

Proof of current employment, for example a payslip dated within the last 3 months
Registration fee EUR 300 per person, paid by credit or debit card during the online application. Exempt categories include ages 16 to 18, spouses of Irish citizens, EU family members, refugees, subsidiary protection and s.49 leave to remain, and Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection.
The online window opens exactly 12 weeks before expiry: earlier applications cannot be submitted, and applying on day one loses nothing, your new permission runs from your current expiry date.
The official rules behind the dates
All renewals and stamp changes are completed by online application only, nationwide through the ISD renewals portal, since 4 November 2024.
The IRP window opens 12 weeks before expiry; you cannot submit an online renewal earlier than that.
No time is lost by renewing early: the new permission runs from your current expiry date.
ISD does not send reminders. The stamp holder must know their own renewal and expiry dates.
You must be in Ireland to apply, and family members must each apply separately.
Employment permit renewals are separate, through DETE, within 16 weeks of the permit expiry.
A nudge when you open this page
No server, so no push: instead, whenever this page opens with a saved plan, the browser can show one notification if any window is open or a deadline is near.
Every result on this page is an estimate, not an official decision. Only the relevant government body can decide your entitlement or application. Your answers stay in your browser: nothing is stored or sent to a server.
